I’ve never been to JUST. Where should I start?
Your first class is very personal and it all depends on what you’re looking to find at JUST! We offer both rhythm-based spin + infrared-heated mat pilates classes. Every class is a little different depending on the instructor but what we can always guarantee is a dark room, good loud music, and some solid coaching to help you disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with yourself. We have different theme classes for everyone to explore on our schedule, which are always a good place to begin since you’ll know what music to expect. If you’d like a class recommendation for your first time, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email at infohalifax@juststudios.ca or DM us on Instagram @just.halifax
Do I need to have experience to take a class?
Absolutely not! At JUST, we love welcoming new members from all different levels and places in their fitness journey. We believe that moving your body is for everyone, and for that reason all of our classes will always be coached to provide multiple options for different skill levels. In our JUST Cycle classes, expect your instructors to coach choreography options for whether you’re sitting in the saddle or up and out, and in our JUST Sculpt classes, we will always provide multiple progressions and modifications that help you move and feel the best in your body. If you have any anxieties or concerns coming into your first classes, please don’t hesitate to chat with our team members and we will make sure you feel comfortable and set up for success!
I don’t know how to set up my bike, will someone help me?
Absolutely! One of our staff will give you a full tour around the studio, fit you for spin shoes, and then get you fully set up on your bike. They will also show you how to clip your shoes in and out to ensure you feel comfortable during the class.
What should I bring to a JUST Cycle class?
All you need for a JUST Cycle class is a water bottle and comfortable, breathable, athletic clothes you’re ready to sweat in. No need to bring a pair of sneakers or spin shoes, we provide shoes to all riders at no extra cost!
What should I bring to a JUST Sculpt class?
All you need for a JUST Sculpt class is a water bottle, a mat towel, and comfortable, breathable, athletic clothes you’re ready to sweat in. If you don’t have a mat towel, no stress, they are required for our infrared-heated classes, but we have them readily available for rent at the studio when you check in for class.
Do I need to bring my own spin shoes?
We provide shoes for riders at no extra cost, but if you have your own to bring you are more than welcome! Our bike pedals accommodate both SPD and Delta clips.
Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?
No you don’t! We’re big on convenience, so at JUST Sculpt we have Lululemon yoga mats already placed in the spot you reserved for class. All you need to bring for our infrared-heated classes is a mat towel so you can stay gripping the mat while you get your sweat on.
Do I need pilates experience to take the JUST Sculpt Powered By TRX Classes?
Yes, we require our members to have taken a minimum of 10 JUST Sculpt classes before you can register for our JUST Sculpt Powered By TRX Classes. Unless you have previous mat Pilates experience, this requirement is in place to ensure you feel comfortable and confident in mat Pilates foundations, including stability, core engagement, and control. JUST Sculpt Powered By TRX is a more advanced form of movement, so we want to make sure you are fully able to participate in the class, as well as avoid unnecessary strain or injury.
How early should I arrive for class?
If it’s your first time moving with us we ask that all new members arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class start time. This allows us time to give you a tour of our space, help you get set up with all your class equipment, and most importantly, ensure you’re properly settled for class, without feeling rushed. If it’s not your first time, we always appreciate it if you arrive 5-15 minutes prior to start time so that you have a chance to get set up for class. If you arrive 2 minutes or less to start time, we cannot guarantee entry into class, as spots may be given to any waitlisted members, and we want to ensure we keep classes running to schedule so we can get everyone in and out on time!
What if I can’t do everything the instructor does?
That’s absolutely okay, don’t stress! At JUST we ensure that our classes provide an option for everyone, with modifications to movements for different experience levels. Yes, our classes are intense, but we’re always ready to meet you exactly where you’re at. In a dark room, you’re in control of your movement and how far you choose to push yourself (and it may look different everyday)! If you need to modify for the full class then that’s exactly what we encourage you to do. We strive for all members to go at their own pace and just focus on having fun!
Does the bike seat ever get more comfortable?
100%. We always say lucky number 3. After the third or fourth ride your body will get used to the saddle and it won’t feel uncomfortable anymore. If it is still uncomfortable after that, then you can bring your own cushioned gel seat cover, just make sure to bring it home!
Do you have showers, lockers, or change rooms?
We have lockers with keypads for you to set your own personal code every time you come to class. Our bathrooms have towels and fully stocked showers with Amika hair products and body wash. The washroom has stalls with space to change, as well as hair tools and all the toiletries you might need to feel fresh and ready to go before and after class.
When does the schedule open for weekly booking?
Members with our exclusive 21-day booking window can access class booking at any time, 21-days following present day. All other standard memberships + class packs have a 2-week booking window which opens for the following week every Monday at 11AM AST.
Should I get a monthly membership or class cards?
This depends on how much you plan on coming! We always recommend doing a trial for new members first, not only try out different instructors and times, but to see how many times a week you will come based on your schedule. If you come less than once a week, a class card package will last longer. If you come 1-2 times per week, a 4 or 8-class monthly membership will provide the most flexibility with consistency, and if you come 3 or more times a week, our monthly unlimited memberships will be best financially. For help picking the membership option best for you, please reach out to infohalifax@juststudios.ca.
Do you have any special offers for students?
Yes, we have a student semester monthly unlimited memberships (4-month commitment) and a single month unlimited membership for both JUST Cycle + Sculpt, as well as 15% off 10 and 20-class packs. Sign up either in-studio or by emailing infohalifax@juststudios.ca by providing your proof of enrollment (must be an accredited college or university)
This varies based on membership. Most standard memberships can be frozen for a limited period of time with a $15 frozen membership fee. Email infohalifax@justcycle.ca for more information and to set up your account freeze.
Yes, our 1 Class Card has a 1 month expiration, and our 10 + 20-class packs have a 6 month expiration.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, we sell 10 + 20-class packs both digitally and physically in-studio. Class packs redeemed as gift cards have a 6-month expiration activated upon account redemption.
Are there any health reasons I can’t participate in class?
Participating in any JUST Cycle + Sculpt classes while pregnant or any other health concerns related to high-endurance activities are completely dependent on each individual and we recommend consulting with your doctor before participating in classes at JUST.
